With spring just around the corner (hooray!), it’s the perfect time for a home refresh. For having a well-earned spring clean, getting things in order and planning a little renovation. A refresh could be anything from buying a few new house plants, to giving a room a much-needed lick of paint or even going the full hog and giving it a complete make-over.

With more and more of us working from home – it’s predicted that up to 1 in 20 of us now work at least one day a week from the comfort of our homes – our home offices need to be organised, clutter-free and inspiring spaces to work from too.

They do say tidy house, tidy mind, and I think many of us would agree. When the washing is done, the kitchen is clean and the finances are in order, we feel lighter, happier and better equipped to start the day. The same goes for your working space – if you’re trying to work in an untidy and disorganised area, your productivity will inevitably flounder. Motivation is heavily influenced by your surroundings so it’s vital to act on this to help you have a good day’s work.

It’s a similar concept to how you feel when you haven’t made your bed. If you sit down to your desk surrounded by paperwork, old notes and tea-stained mugs, you instantly feel deflated and lacking enthusiasm for the day ahead. If your desk isn’t organised, then chances are, neither are you!

From a colourful colour scheme to displaying personal knick-knacks and implementing clever storage solutions, it’s a good idea to really think about what you want and what makes you happy. If you create a space you love, it’ll be easier to sit down each morning, ready to begin your working day with vigour and passion.

While it may not be possible to adopt a whole room for your office, it’s useful to have a sturdy desk propped up in the corner somewhere in your home – with plenty of natural light too, if possible. So, whether you’re running your own crafting business from home, writing your first novel or work remotely several days a week, here are a few pieces that will work wonderfully if you’re planning an office refresh for spring.
