Raise the roof

There is definitely a different feeling in London at this time of year. In the summer months everything lights up and we appreciate our surroundings as we forget about the grey and dreary British winter. We can often find ourselves feeling more energetic and sociable in these months and more inclined to say yes to social events. Sitting back and enjoying the sunset as the sun goes down is an ideal way to finish of a warm summers day. Surely this is made event better if there is a Rosé or White wine spritzer to hand? In London we are lucky enough to have variety of different rooftop bars which provide lots of choice  as to how to finish the evening. Whether you want to get glam and party to the late hours, have a few casual drinks or get lively over some social games, the choice is yours.

Casual, Fun and Relaxed – Roof East
Roof east is located on the top of the Stratford shopping centre in East London. The venue is a former car park which has been transformed into a trendy rooftop bar which features activities and even an open air cinema. There is lots to do and the mood is very relaxed with a casual dress-code and reasonably priced food and drink. Nearby is also Westfield shopping centre and The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, perfect if you are planning a fun day out. This space is only open until the end of September this year though and is strictly over 18s after 5pm.

Best views – Rumpus Room
See key London landmarks such as The Shard, The Razor, St. Paul’s Cathedral from this swanky rooftop bar in the middle of the South Bank along the river thames. The outdoors in brought inside with an eco feel with plants indoors. There are plush interiors to give a luxurious feel with the soft velvet furnishings. If you opt to sit inside you won’t miss out on the views, as it is well lit with a skylight and full length glass windows. This venue is open all year round and Wednesday nights have live music performances.

Party Vibes – Radio Rooftop Bar
On the 10th floor of the ME hotel, Radio Rooftop Bar is subtle and minimal in style with a muted colour palette and sofa seating for an intimate environment. It boasts fantastic views of the London skyline from the v-shaped outdoor space. There is food available whether you fancy a small, medium or large plate, think more nibbles than 3-course dining. In house mixologists create the cocktails which include premium alcohol brands and creative fruity combinations. The dress code is smart and glamorous and the venue is strictly over 21 after 5pm, at which time cigars can be purchased and smoked on the rooftop. Music is played from the main bar for party vibes all night long, a true evening of indulgence. 

Whatever you choose remember, the sun won’t be here long. Above the city’s fumes London has some great night spots, and while the weather is on our side we should take the opportunity to enjoy it!
