Androgynous dressing is nothing new. Each season, designers attempt to change the face of fashion and yet more often than not we witness repetitive trend evolution as apposed to fresh new styles, as old classics are given a new lease of life and reinvented for another year. Despite my pessimistic tone I am all for reworked classics, because surely if a trend is worth revisiting season after season then it must have been something pretty damn special in the first place. So with no further ado may we present to you the new rules of androgynous dressing…the class of AW 2014.
Keep it Feminine
Despite probably being the most contradicting title of all time, keeping things feminine is a key point when tackling androgynous style this season. For autumn the tuxedo shape has been given a revamp to flatter the female figure. This River Island boy fit tuxedo dress (below) is a great way to embrace the trend while exposed legs ensure a feminine balance.

Wide Leg Wonders
Forget cigarette pants and tapered legs, this season things have been blown wide open, quite literally! Baggy three quarter length culottes and wide leg palazzos are replacing stereotypical structured tailoring to create a more relaxed look. But as always balance is essential, so if opting for a wider leg trouser always compensate with a fitted shirt or blazer. Take note from celebs such as Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Lawrence who effortlessly achieve the ambisexual balance.

Comfort Factor
For women comfort is rarely associated with high fashion, with skin tight dresses and stiletto heels all too often getting in the way. But for once comfort is most definitely on our side with trainers firmly at the forefront when it comes to fashionable footwear. From some of the best high end designers to Adidas, Nike and New Balance, there is quite literally a perfect pair for every occasion.
